Child of Mine

Child of Mine

written by: Marjorie Steffe

Dearest Child of Mine,

I saw you alone in your room tonight.
You were staring out into cold moonlight.
Were you wondering if you’d see or hear
My reindeer, my sleigh, and me coming near?

Were you questioning if I’m real or not?
Well, that’s OK, I get asked that a lot!
As people grow older and full of doubt,
They often forget what Santa’s about.

You see, it’s like when you learned to pray
Asking God to take care of us each day.
Though we never see Him, we know He is there
Watching His children with such loving care.

God started Christmas a long time ago
When He gave us His son to love and to know.
A spirit of giving came with that birth,
And God’s generosity filled the whole Earth.

Man had to name this spirit of giving
Just as he names all things that are living.
The name Santa Claus came to someone’s mind.
Probably the best name of any to find.

And so you can know, I am very real
In the hearts of all those who truly feel
The spirit of Christmas that’s giving and kind.

For them Santa lives in heart, soul, and mind.

I Love You,
Santa
