Confessions of a Castaway

Confessions of a Castaway

written by: Anagha Agnes

For ages I travelled
like a castaway,
Lost in the ocean of lies
in search of land to dock.
A place that can bear me as its own
Where I can be son, a daughter,
Where my soul can find solace.
I roamed around like a lunatic
In search of a womb,
to rest till my last sunset.
In time I found my harbor,
in the placid whiteness of the Himalayas,
in the dry dooms of Egypt,
in the depths of the Pacific,
in the rustic English villages
in the cavernous of the Tropics
in every drop of blood Jhelum shed
in tears that flooded borders
in the audacity of every soldier
in the cry of every vacant tummy
I am them as they are me
A slice of the same cake
with the same savor
