Discarded Love

Discarded Love

written by: Michelle McCarthy

Memories dance like shadows, whispering of love now lost
My vulnerable heart has been shattered by your cruelty
Leaving me broken, in the ruins of what we once shared
The ache of your apathy and disregard lingers profoundly

Your fractured soul projected internal demons onto me
My being, not even visible, within your moments of wrath
You, a constant chaos of cruel and callous contradictions
Your words, like daggers, cut deep, leaving unhealed scars

My tears fell silently, unnoticed, within the eye of your storm
Trying desperately to navigate your treacherous waters
I became lost in the murky abyss of your self absorption
Drowning, beneath your unpredictable, turbulent seas

I loved a shard of your soul, a glimmer of light within darkness
A part of you that called to me, honestly and tenderly
For in that fragment, I found you unbroken and pure
A delicate piece of a hidden heart yearning to be seen

Yet, you were incapable of accepting my love as pure and true
Unwilling to hold me when I needed the safety of your embrace
Betraying, demonising and abandoning me, unfairly and unjustly
Discarding an honest heart, that would have been yours forever
