Exhumation

Exhumation

written by: Nina Morgan

I could hear the doctor speaking
As she pulled my ribs back from spine
Like wings–

“There’s something rotten here.”

And maybe it was the nurse
Or the attending
Or a chorus of angles that sang

“Cut her deeper.

Tear her in half.”
