Flight Log and Other Ghosts

at 34120 feet 470 knots
right above Hong Kong
you arrived in the form
of a text message
on my Nokia 3110
fascinating
one peso move

at 34110 feet 472 knots
leaving Yangjiang behind
your laughter echoes
filling the void of
your absence– annoying
the hell out of me
a gum stuck on my shoe
outside USC Main gate
after 9pm MA class
I only ever wanted
to crawl home

at 34119 feet 445 knots
turbulence above Beihai
we had our one millionth
fight over long distance and
crappy Sun Cellular signal
god i just miss
the scent of your nape
after a day’s work

at 34100 feet 463 knots
approaching Qinzhou
fourteenth tequila shot
we vomited our angst
over songs at the karaoke
yes, I like how warm your
hand felt when you pulled me
closer to your chest while
we belted No Arms

at 33720 feet 457 knots
passing by Nanning
cloudy sunset
that quiet moment between
coming and going, wanting
to stay but having to leave
I watched your back time and
again as you drag your luggage
full of ghosts for a better future

at 00040 feet 00010 knots
touching down Hanoi
each descent leads to you
after all these years
I still long each day
to come home to you.
