Floods in Pakistan

Floods in Pakistan

The floods are here, back with vigor
And the country drowned in water
No hope for the destitute victims
Their eyes turning white and the lives going in shambles

“Water everywhere but not a drop to drink”
This was warned by the wise to depict the future’s brink
We knew it would come sooner or later
But were not prepared to cater

And when it was all here, with one-third of land drowned
The nation demands climate justice to help it heal its wound
For we have contributed a little to the global emission
The developed world grew emitting it to have its economy in motion

But the filibustering will continue as the hopes here shatter
For this is what happens in matters that matter
The conferences will be conducted and campaigns run
With actions too little too late to save the soil’s daughter and son
