Gingerbread and Candy Canes

Gingerbread and Candy Canes

written by: Alisa Guttadauro

Gingerbread and candy canes,
swimming through my mind,
such delectable aromas, around Christmas time.
Gingerbread and candy canes,
just to name a few,
Don’t forget sugar cookies, cocoa, and gum drops too.
Gingerbread and candy canes,
I don’t think I can wait,
all the tantalizing delicacies, I want on my plate.
Gingerbread and candy canes,
the scents are just too much,
How will I ever concentrate,
without getting a head rush?
Gingerbread and candy canes,
I’m going to cave in…
Abruptly I’m awakened,
Was it all a dream, to my chagrin?
“Wake up sleepy head,” mom says, “It’s about to begin…”
Gingerbread and candy canes,
now it all makes sense,
the gingerbread house contest is finally here,
let the merry making commence!
