I Can Relate

I Can Relate

written by: Troy DeFrates

I’m on the inside, wanting to go outside,
wondering why it took so long,
for the fear, to subside,
watching the malice of others,
try to hurt us, with their pride.

Sayin‘, now this is the way it is,
nothing like it was, in their promises,
I know your hurt, I felt your pain,
betrayal that can drive a mind insane,
as they try to hurt us, with their pride.

I want to take it slow, just to let you know,
you’re there in the sky, not just a cloud passing by,
take my hand now, as I am reaching for you,
I want to make you smile.

I get to be me, I set myself free,
all the boundaries, that held me down,
you get to be you, just the pure you,
someone who makes the world, yours,
with your smile.

I’m a real man, and I understand,
what it takes to make a woman feel so,
not alone, I will be there for you,
tell me when you want to go,
on an adventure, with someone you can know.

Feel the hair stand, up on your arm,
teach me how to dance on a rainbow,
not alone, I will be there for you,
tell me when you want to go,
feel that you can be sure, when you want to go.
