Illusion of Time

Illusion of Time

written by: Christine Piatek

Time promised in childhood,
that long view of life filled
with play, with hopes and dreams,
that seemed so slow, boring at times,
not quick enough to get to the goal,
to reach the destination of added years
determined by fate, or luck, or intent,
has suddenly quickened to warp speed
leaving things undone at day’s end
as time runs out faster, it seems,
than the things that need doing,
than the life still left for living,
as biology predicts remaining time.
Time is a human puzzle
that will flow into infinity,
the same steady drumbeat
since the beginning of time.
