Integrity and Fame

Integrity and Fame

written by: Mike Ricketts

She offered up her innocence to me on a plate,
I did not take advantage even though it was late.
I respected her; I loved her and wished her well,
But to take advantage of this situation would have ended up in pure hell.

I wanted to know her, so things would feel right,
We’d only just met, we got on well; it was a lovely night.
Some would say, “You fool, you should have checked her out,”
But I say that is not the way, I felt the night should play out.

Yes, I was famous and a truly big star,
Taking advantage of this nubile girl would not get me very far.
I’ve seen it before where lust has its win,
But often, you’re trapped when the person lets you in.

Then it’s the tabloid, paparazzi, morning, noon, and night,
With wild accusations that accuse of not doing things right.
Then pictures and tape recordings of things alleged to have gone on,
With someone you really did not know where they came from.

I prefer a real relationship with a person I love,
Let’s take time together to establish love and peace like a dove.
Let me get to know you and understand your integrity,
Let’s not get entangled with lust that gives romance brevity.

In love and truth, let our journey begin,
A story of connection, not marred by a worldly spin.
Building a bond that stands the test of time,
A love story that resonates in every rhyme.
