Leaning Into Wind

Leaning Into Wind

written by: Stephen Kingsnorth

Leading into wind.
Headstrong.
Maintain the centre, gravity.
Balance. Focus. Weigh.
You talk, sweet nothings, turning sour.
You paint where I can’t turn my head.
Old Tree. Fresh litter. Breaking bud.
And always, watch, a dog’s been here.
Heavy breathing.
One more foot forward.
Don’t care the break, the trash, the soiled.
The birds I hear above the heave.
Move, head down, path, a tarmac stare.
Already climbed the cobble stair.
No longer count.
Just getting there.
Parky, weather and disease.
