Listening to the ‘Monster Mash’ again

Listening to the ‘Monster Mash’ again

written by: Richard LeDue

reminds me of black and white monsters
who taught me blood doesn’t need to be red,
while most Draculas are dressed up
like Bela Lugosi without even realizing it,
and Frankenstein patched together
with creative liberties as much
as thread and human tissue.

The upbeat lyrics and music also a teacher,
showing me how horror can be
open to interpretation,
like any true art.
