Lost Songs

Lost Songs

written by: Hirak

I wrote songs for you
and they’re all in the dust now
piles of paper strewn
on the floor
on my desk
in my heart
and all I hear now are echoes
from our past
when you were more than a silhouette-
a living breathing human

It’s winter
and there’s frost on the window
but no fingers to write our names
together
in a wild celebration
of communion-
of two souls bonded by
the collision of worlds;
and all I hear now are echoes
from the past
when we were more than blips
on the timeline of the earth
