“Speak of Love,” he said.

Follow him, though hard and steep.
Yield to him, though the sword may wound you;
believe in him, though his voice lays waste.

Crucify
your growth for your pruning.
Your height and caresses quiver in the sun.
Descend your roots and shake them to the earth.

He gathers you to make you naked.
He sifts you free from your husks.
He grinds you, kneads you,
and assigns you sacred fire.
You become sacred bread, God’s feast.

Unto you the secrets of Life’s heart.

Fear peace and pleasure,
cover your nakedness.
Into the world laugh, but not laughter; weep, but not tears.

Love gives and takes.
From Love unto Love.

“When love is in my heart, I am God,” and
you direct the course.

Love has no desires to melt like melody to the night.
The pain, – tenderness, wounded by understanding.

Bleed willingly and joyfully,
and give thanks to love’s ecstasy.
Return home with gratitude,
and sleep with song upon your lips.
