Lucky, a poem by James Yesley at Spillwords.com

Lucky

Lucky

written by: James Yesley

I lay in bed.
Smoking another cigarette.
Next to another woman.
A position I’ve been in, a time or two.
There were times, that I thought I wouldn’t make it.
Times of sorrow.
That sad, sickness.
When you’re not sure, if you can go on.
Luck, has always been on my side.
I rarely notice it.
Not until it’s already saved me from certain destruction.
I know lady luck is there though.
She waits in the wings.
She is a woman in a red dress.
A faint smile from across a crowded room.
We dance together and she leads.
The odds are forever in my favor.
