Memory

Memory

written by: JPK

I remember the songs that I danced to then,
though my dancing days are done,
and the laughing lips that I kissed that night,
though their laughter is faded and gone.

The years of my youth are as clear to me now
as if they were happening today,
the joys and the tears of those long past days
are not what is fading away.

As my body grows old and my mind grows dim
it’s the last few days that are lost.
Half seen shapes in a mist of time
as if they were far in the past.
