Mirror Mirror

Mirror Mirror

written by: Dickson Shreffler

I look into the mirror
and I don’t see me

just shapes of past
dealings with my
oldest brother

I think I look more like him
than I remember me looking at
that age

the one I haven’t yet reached
those 9 years we are apart

I was never able to close

that gap

remained an ocean,
regrets maybe,
anger of course,

I would not attempt to cross
