Mirrored Souls Under a Blacklight

Mirrored Souls Under a Blacklight

written by: G. Lynn Brown

I’m stuck in a house of mirrors
Some are cracked
Some are desilvered
All are smeared and covered in fingerprints
And at every turn another distorted version of myself stares back
Fat
Ugly
Twisted
Jealous
Hurt
Frightened
Definitely frightened
Because I can’t escape
Stuck in this blacklit palace of echoes
Where you’re hidden in the dark recesses
With purple smile and dotted eyes
Staring back at me at every turn
Reflecting the best and worst in me
Like a mirror soul
Funhouse style
The same but different
Blurred but sharp
Like the shards of broken glass
From the cracked mirrors
And my fragile heart
