Pandora’s Box
written by: Maggie Watson
Some things will always remain unsaid.
The dead never utters regrets.
It is only the ones left behind to clean up the mess
that suffer.
The weight of grief is enough to bear.
Within tears of sorrow, anger will always raise its head,
not as a bolster to prop us up.
Anger asks, “Why,” “If,” “How” and “What.”
The dead cannot answer these questions, nor can you or I.
So, we torture ourselves instead while trying to figure it out.
Some things are best left unsaid.
Swallowed by the earth to rot.
The dead never utters regrets.
There is no point in opening a Pandora’s Box.
