Past Due

Past Due

written by: Lawrence Langman

I walked the path
to Riverdale.
Where angels fought
and demons dwell.
Whence evil hides
in magic lands.
Amongst the deserts
white hot sands.
Hidden in these clouds
of mist.
Devoid from all that
sunrays kissed.
Barren are these roads
less traveled.
With each enigma
comes unraveled.
Morning comes yet
the sun don’t rise.
Hidden by what
nature cries.
Beauty comes with
its own price.
With a heart of stone
and veins of ice.
I sit and ponder
about days of yore.
Where good and evil
were at war.
Yet now we allow
what once was cast.
Our visions eschewed
and out of contrast.
We’ve dared to delve
into the night.
No fear of shadows
no flight from fright.
No price impelled
from sins accrued.
The penalty phase
at your end is due.
