Penniless Dreamer

Penniless Dreamer

written by: Marlon Perez

I was born penniless
I depend my life on rubbish
I don’t even have a home to sleep
Resting under the bridge, indeed.

Collecting every rusty can
I ask for food from every man
My starving stomach, shouting out loud
Eating once a day, I feel heaven, surrounded by clouds

Every rusty can I pick
It’s worth thousands of hopes
And every can they kick
For me, it is worth gold

Seeing my reflection in dirty water
Convincing myself to smile
Making myself bolder
To face the battle of life

I am nothing but a dreamer
A child who wants to live a normal life
A child who wishes for a comfortable bed to sleep
And a home without mice

Wearing this nasty clothing
There is nothing wrong with dreams
I need to remain hopeful
Until my life gleams
