Pollinator of My Soul

Pollinator of My Soul

written by: Jackie Shaffer

Basking subdued in my tranquil garden
Rocking chair cradling this tortured soul
Rays of light peaking through timbers softly
Shadows lurking, taking their leisurely stroll

Sipping steaming earthy fragrant coffee
Classicals flowing on soft-wind through opened paned glass door
Feelings of loneliness, sneaking through so quietly, …hush…
Cold shoulder, me trying to ignore

Mind relaxing, insufflating scented treasures
Body renewing, decompressing, soft surrenders

God’s grandeur ascending from jewel to jewel
Beauteous pollinators drawn to light and hue
From worm like larva to silky cocoon

Transparent stained glass wings
Among all others, majestic kings
Kaleidoscope of multifarious colors
Tasting sweet nectar, fluctuating flutters

Forward leaning as the Monarch alights on yellow milkweed blossoms
Taking to air, ensurement, a necessary caution

Gentle fingers, enfolding silkiness of velvet petals
Fragile, unfolding, quiescent nesting in palm
Tortured self forgotten, restful, shallow breathing, becoming sweetly calm

Ingesting the paradise of my garden
Weariness leaving my soul
God’s majesty abounding
Surrounded by loveliness
No more self insulating
Slowly releasing psychological control
