Royal Blood

Royal Blood

written by: Yesmine Lagras

They call me monster,
but you..
you bring me sunlight
in a chalice of your own ribs,
daring me to drink.
Foolish, beautiful mortal.
Don’t you know
I’ve grown fangs
just to blunt them
on your “almost?”
This is how we love;
with my teeth aching,
with your pulse begging,
with the space between
never and now
stretched taut
as a corset of lilies
O prince of wilted flowers,
who taught you to love
a thing that devours
by refusing to?
