Sanctuary as Death

Sanctuary as Death

She heard bro answer the door.
He let two people in,
Two from Sinaloa
Looking only for her.
They burst into her bedroom
And saw her standing
Looking familiarly naked.
She smiled and posed.
Those two young men
Died suddenly.
Bro slouched at her door.
“You didn’t warn them.”
“No need. They know now.
Their pal is at the cemetery
In Ciudad Juarez.
He almost raped me.”
“Better almost raped than almost escaped.”
They laughed for a moment.
They smoked and drank till midnight.
Then they walked out together
And fled through the morning.
