Silence of Mourning

Silence of Mourning

written by: Ernest Federspiel

When the night is over
I wake up before the dawn
I sit here and I ponder
Another day to spend alone

The coffee is now brewing
Jupiter shines in the sky
I tell myself all is fantastic
The moon is bright tonight

The sun will soon be burning
Another day without direction
I press keys to reveal my thoughts
As I sit here and silently cry

Self-doubt is once again calling
Bringing ghosts of failures past
Not looking at the long picture
I write sad nothings I don’t share

The quietness of a roaring mind
Picking up speed as Java ignites
Not showing positive thoughts
Wanting to disappear into a void

I fear the rejection of tenderness
I fear the hope of being loved
In the desolation of mourning
Will you be my new shining star?
