chilly was the night
shopping for loved ones
gifts that delight
I let out a deep sigh
dearest Santa
oh, what to buy!
I’m so weary
my feet are frozen
I must stay merry
I’ve got it! Socks!
Real woolen for Grandpa
Pink and fuzzy for Grandma
Thick blue-gray for Dad
Chic and silky for Mom
Green plaid for little brother
Red striped for big sis.
and for me
Cozy, cuddly, zany and warm
what a wonderful Christmas!
all the family by the fire
reminiscing about yesteryear
sipping hot cocoa, roasting S’mores
while enjoying our warm toesies
