So Many

So Many

written by: K. Exum

So many burned bridges but only 1, I still want to cross
Thoughts of whether it is worth the cross?
Can I make it through the fire?
Will the one on the other side be welcoming or pissed that I even tried?
Firm believer in never going back to someone
But what happens when the thought, the memory of them burns up your insides
And the truth can’t be denied
That you desire their presence,
Welcome their essence
Miss their smile, their eyes
And every inch of their assets
It’s like a stain stuck in your brain
It’s like you’re not supposed to live without them
But you know you weren’t the best to them in the past
Cause you didn’t know yourself
Didn’t have much love for yourself
Didn’t have God in your heart
Now that you know your worth,
You want a fresh start
But know y’all may not be on the same accord
A reality you don’t want to support
But know the Lord knows what’s best
If that fire ever goes out, you’ll be waiting on the other side
But the question remains, will they be waiting on the other side with open arms?
Or they’ll be gone
