Sometimes You Tell Me You Love Me
While You’re Sleeping
written by: Aleathia Drehmer
You fall asleep with your hand
on my ribcage, the warmth
of you sinking into my bones
until it is almost unbearable.
The weight of your hand
touches
the weight of mortality.
Somewhere in your subconscious
you need the rhythm of my breathing
to know I’ll still be there
in the morning.
