Soul Retrieval

To my bones the ancient stones spelled home. Arriving in the Scottish Highlands as daylight waned, Clava Cairns, an archeological feature built by long-dead hands, radiated power. The fact that those hands belonged to ancient ones who were the ancestors of my blood lineage was profound and overwhelming. As we entered the golden hour, some part of my soul—which I had not previously known was absent—flew, bird-like, back into my body. I found myself weeping with awe. Reverently caressing time-worn stones as the sun inched toward the horizon, I gave thanks to the ancestors for my breath.
