Spring Feelings

Spring Feelings

written by: Karin Porter

I’ve felt this way before
Every spring, in fact
Feelings I can’t put my finger on
I try to focus on it,
Like a sneeze that’s getting away
Leaving me so unsatisfied
Feelings in spring are wondrous,
The perfume in the air intoxicating
Setting off old embers that never died
Bringing wistful hopes and shattered dreams
Back to the surface, still beautiful
Even if they never happened and never will
Spring is fleeting,
Like my dreams
The perfume’s cap goes back on
Stifling my passion
At least another year
