Sunburnt Time

Sunburnt Time

Your eyes told me more
than I thought you’d say
as our music introduced us
so we talked after all.

We danced with the lyrics
ahead of our fleeing thoughts
your mind leading me
mine thinking ahead.

But the song ended
and you took those
gentle eyes away
leaving mine to say goodbye.

We met again eons later
recognizing our song
you found me first
gorgeous eyes you wield.

Sunburnt time still waits
our viral language
its surreptitious dance
deciding what we think.

Socrates introduced us
knowing we could sing
shall we dance again, love
kiss my eyes with yours?
