Tarry Awhile Longer

Tarry Awhile Longer

written by: Johnch

Why did you stop so soon
To fail to ease my drought

You ask me to answer a
Question yet you know why

Tis true I admit but my crop
Will fail my family will starve

But you know I have no heart
Your plea will wring no tears

Tis true I admit that my plea
Will wring no tears but hold here
Let down what is left of you

No, for I must drift as the wind commands
Yet if I was to pause, still you would
Complain of my excess

Ahh that’s why the call me Hanrahan

And who is Hanrahan may I ask

A character rom the poem “said Hanrahan”
