The Demon

The Demon

“Who could resist his power?” — John Polidori, The Vampyre.

The bats are out, the moon appears
as apprehensions stoke men’s fears;
we toss uneasily in bed
and wonder how soon we’ll be dead;
the graveyard cries out to be filled,
contrary to the plans God willed.
Some folks I know swear by garlic —
alas, that doesn’t do the trick;
it’s said that holy water works —
however, evilness still lurks;
I’ve heard it once, what it’ll take
is good aim and a silver stake;
but if without a crucifix
make sure you have some cancer sticks.
Whenever faced with a vampyre
you got to fight fire with fire;
the Lord of Darkness is strong, ‘tho
he’s not as strong as tobacco;
just hook ‘im on that demon weed
and he will perish, guaranteed.
