The Sounds of Trick or Treat

With nighttime comes the sounds of trick or treat
A loud whoosh brings a witch landing in the street
With hackles and cackles she holds her magic broom
Searching for children to be feasting on pretty soon
A black cat sits behind a bush waiting to launch an attack
He lowly growls at you while arching his shiny black back
Pay the black cat no heed, keep your eye on that witch
She offers you treats but in reality are sleeping tricks
The witch blends into the crowd offering delightful tastes
Of the potion that will coat children when she starts her baste
A Jack O’ Lantern walks by hand in hand with Princess Di
Buckets filled with candy and she gives them the evil eye
They wanted to run but their feet felt stuck to the ground
As she whispered to them incantations of hypnotizing sounds
Her broom played a soft beat by sweeping gently in the air
The trick complete, she handed them not an apple but a pear
The kids soon fell under the well known spell of “Lets take a ride
My broom will float you through the nighttime’s starry skies
I’ll show you a world of endless candies and cookies galore
Everything little children like you could want and more”
The black cat waited for the witch to arrive back to her home
Knowing tonight she would be cooking meat off some kid’s bones
Generations have passed since he was a child in this town
Turned into a black cat by the witch he wanted to put down
Inside the cottage it was warm and full of children’s desires
The witch singing while starting the oven’s intense glowing fire
Children lost under the night’s festival spell of sugar delight
The black cat watched in horror at what was unfolding this night
