The Universe

A young man in a grey hoodie
Sits in the center of the sidewalk in front of the Apple Store at 1981 Broadway
Scrolling on his phone.
I observe him and try to determine his character.
Is he wealthy and thinks that he owns every block in Manhattan?
Or is it that he gets the best reception in the middle of the street
In front of the Apple Store?
I am trying to tell you that sometimes our universe is what we all make of it.
I am a single 70 year old retiree who enjoys writing poems and short stories. I retired 17 years ago as a school secretary. I enjoy reading books, both fictional and nonfiction, writing, knitting and watching movies. I live in the Bronx, NY and I attend a Poetry class on Zoom at the Brooklyn Library.
