The Wail

It penetrates the walls
Rushes down the hallway
Sounds like someone’s response
To her life’s saddest moment
It overwhelms my ears
Grabs my heart
When I enter this building
I do not know
From whom it comes
It is a loud and sad howling
As she tries to gush out
Her overloaded emotions
Anger frustration and pain
Once she was independent
Well spoken
Now confined to a bed
Unable to express herself
She can only attract attention
With a soul wrenching wail
After retirement from medical profession in 2016, I shifted gears and started to write poems. Through expressing emotions, depicting humanity, exploring life and nature with poems I have gained more insights into my inner and outer worlds.
