There Was an Old Witch

There Was an Old Witch

written by: Dianne Moritz

There was an Old Witch who cooked up a brew,
that bubbled and boiled and really stunk. PEW!

First, the Old Witch sprinkled in some newts’ eyes.
That she needed newts’ eyes was not a surprise.
She added newts’ eyes to thicken the brew,
that bubbled and boiled and really stunk. PEW!

Next, the Old Witch added two cups of bugs.
Along with the bugs she threw in some slugs.
She added them both to season the brew,
that bubbled and boiled and really stunk. PEW!

Next, the Old Witch collected toadstools.
She’d be a fool to leave out those toadstools.
She tossed in toadstools to flavor the brew,
that bubbled and boiled and really stunk. PEW!

Then, the Old Witch stirred in hair of a hog,
Blood from a bat, and toes from a frog.
She stirred in all three to spice up the brew,
that bubbled and boiled and really stunk. PEW!

Lastly, Old Witch mixed in crunchy hen’s feet.
Now her bubbling brew was finally complete.

When it had cooled, Old Witch swallowed that brew.
She gulped. She guzzled. Until she was through.

Then, ABBRA, KADABBRA, JIGGITY, JAT.
Every rat here on Earth is now a CAT!
