Through The Storm

Through The Storm

written by: Aileen D. Tacbalan

The road is long, night is deep,
I walk alone and yet can not weep.
Burden we carry, heavily to wear,
But hope hangs in the air nonetheless.

The winds may blow, the thunder roars,
My tired eyes are full of dark clouds.
Every time I take a step, I feel pain.
But through it all, I still rise again.

I’ve wandered a lot; I’ve lost my steps.
But the dawn still unfolds to the light of the day.
For every tear that hits the ground,
And a knot of strength is tied tightly.

My scars, they speak my story.
Of wars won when hope felt weak.
But even after my hands release,
Grace has carried me below.

So while the tempest roils my soul,
It won’t break; it won’t rule.
For through the fire and through the rain,
I will reside in brightness, past the ache.
