Unedited, Like the Love

Unedited, Like the Love

written by: Sanya Jain

“I’m always there for you,”- I said
Pouring all my love with everything I had.
Ready to adjust and settle things his way,
Because this is love as everybody say.

I am obsessed. Am I high?
A rush of happiness or just a passionate lie?
Drowning in anxiety when he isn’t around,
Waiting as a backup for him to set ground.

My “always” became an obligation,
Two bodies couldn’t set in motion.
A convenient excuse to detach and leave,
He never loved me, he believed.

What is true love?- I wonder
A gush of excitement or peace in blunder?
I want my fireplace not a firecracker.
He chased the butterflies I could no longer offer.

We were best friends, had something rare,
Meant to last through, had that declared.
Was it all real or just in my mind?
Not the pain of a broken heart but the healing kind.
