Valentine Blues

Valentine Blues

written by: Brittany Benko

The world is wrapped in red,
hearts pulsing in the air like forgotten wishes
I sit here, in the quiet of the evening,
not needing a reason to feel invisible

The cards line shelves,
a thousand voices I do not hear,
smiles caught in glass frames
as if joy were something I could touch,
but only from a distance

Outside, the streets hum with togetherness,
hands intertwined, faces lit by secret laughter,
but inside, my heart hurts with valentines blues
