Visiting Hell

Visiting Hell

written by: Joan McNerney

It’s always been that way
hanging out on the hard
streets.

Staying away from those
nasty boys lurking in
hallways

Or lying on a sweat bed
as radios drown moaning
fans

Everyone can taste hell’s
liquid nightmare poured
hourly

Or sample barbecued
brains & swollen hearts
rancid

Mountains are on fire
as rivers flood over burnt
land

People fighting shouting
others fall in clumps
waiting

These nobodies crammed
into boiling noise burning
lights

So many flowers fading
soft petals falling apart
crushed
