What The Silk Remembered

What the Silk Remembered

written by: Manpreet Kour

I loved the storm more than I feared the flood
And stood still as the water reached my throat
So, I left the window open, and the silk unguarded
Poured the rain, a quiet ruined reunion

And stood still as the water reached my throat
Fluid enough to flow, too choked to move
Poured the rain, a quiet ruined reunion
Soft showers now hardened into hailstorms

Fluid enough to flow, too choked to move
What once felt gentle now bruises on touch
Soft showers now hardened into hailstorms
Each fold of me collapsed like wet silk

What once felt gentle now bruises on touch
So, I left the window open, and the silk unguarded
Each fold of me collapsed like wet silk
I loved the storm more than I feared the flood
