The main reason why women hate the Three Stooges is
Men are one poke in the eye from being an idiot
No matter the level of education
No matter how successful or not
No matter what they have seen
No matter what they have done
No matter the sense of self or humor
Men are one poke in the eye from being an idiot
There is probably some primordial basis for this
Probably the first Neanderthal comedy skit had it
Didn’t your mother say
You’re going to poke your eye out with that thing
That mattered little
TV turned dismay into camaraderie
And there is no cure, no warning will suffice
I know, I have been a pubescent boy now for almost seven decades

Warren Alexander was born and still lives in New York City. He was identified as a cynic by his kindergarten teacher, and he honed this quality under the tutelage of Thomas Keneally, Peter Carey, and E. L. Doctorow at NYU, where he received his MA in creative writing.
His satiric novel, Cousins’ Club, was a semi-finalist for 2017 BookLIfe Award for General Fiction. His work, Wrong Train, placed second for the 2016 Rick DeMarinis Short Story Award judged by Michael Matrone.
