When I Die

When I Die

written by: Clive La Pensée

When I die
Let me know I opposed the friction of wicked men
And lashes on soft flesh.
Tell me I hated the squalor we gave our children
And the carnality that took their innocence.

When I die
Tell me bees have conquered nicotinoids
And the homeless rejected cold steps and charity
Tell me politicians are empty of lies
And the sea of polyethylene.

When I die
Tell me Africa is not our font of whores
And bankers embrace responsibility.
Tell me my poetry can change the world
And let another writer die with his vanity.
