When Life Gives You Lemons

When Life Gives You Lemons

written by: Elizabeth Sams

When life gives you lemons, rejoice!
You now have an opportunity, a multi-dimensional opportunity
to create something new.

Lemon bread, to eat with freshly churned butter
Lemon poppy-seed muffins, lemon pie with fluffy meringue
that melts in your mouth.

Lemon balm to soothe aches and pains
Lemon curd to spread in thick creamy clumps on a toasted bun
and lick off the spoon.

Lemonade for those long hot summer days
Lemon slices floating on the top and sugar around the rim
to add sweetness.

Lemon and herb stuffing for that halibut
Lemon and butter sauce for your chicken and veggie kabobs
on the barbecue.

Lemons are a delight! Bring on the lemons, life!
I have opportunities here!
