Whispers of Nature Around Me

Whispers of Nature Around Me

It’s been a while since I’ve crossed miles,
The smell of autumn is fresh with my lines.
It’s been a while since I have smiled, a sudden change in my style.
It’s been a while since I ran bare footed, the sticky mud fresh on my feet,
It’s been a while since I felt it, the fresh breeze made me feel complete.
I walked past the golden field, it felt soothing on my feet,
With its sweet smell and green shields, I could feel my soul meet.
I looked at the green trees, cuckoo singing, scarecrows hanging,
There’s an illusion in these, hidden truths hidden beneath the questions:
What was behind the golden paddies, smiling with ease?

They told stories of times when nature turned and did crimes,
When the sky didn’t feel as pretty, dark and noisy sometimes.

Rain came and seeds were sown, with a warm heart and something more,
The fields were flooded making them cry, heart’s broken and throat sore.
This field had seen it all, the hardworking farmers and the glistening rivers,
The sky had been there till fall, with the evening star that always glitters.

I touched a wild weed, its existence had many reasons,
The weed had its deed, just like the changing seasons.
I sat near the flowing river, boats floating, the day was closing.
I felt my feet pain but I didn’t care,
I stared there and began a prayer.
I opened my eyes to meet the yellowish-glistening water,
I spotted a snake near the weeds, must be a marauder.

As I stared at the sunken sun, I felt my heart burn,
Will I see the paddies, trees and rivers when I return?
