Sestina For The Trees

Sestina For The Trees

written by: Sharon SingingMoon

She claims her voice is a source of wonder
a dance of words floating just above
her songs come rolling from a heart of love
rocking the hills & stones, rivers & trees
we dance & sing to honor Mother Earth
she swears she will not go unforgiven
There is pain when one feels unforgiven
in the forest find your lost sense of wonder
be at peace on the breast of Mother Earth
a canopy dancing around & above
acknowledges the life-force of the trees
reminding there is nothing more than love
They are sentient beings, these trees she loves
to think them less we shall remain unforgiven
measuring value in dollars discounts the trees
we are one of millions living this wonder
just stand in silence, reach your arms above
we are blessed with the beauty of this Earth
Patience & generosity is this Earth
exemplifying for us how to love
lay back in the grass, my dear, gaze above
we shall learn how to go not unforgiven
we find understanding in the forest’s wonder
the symbiotic lives of fungi & trees
Never undervalue the lives of trees
we’re just one of millions – children of Earth
respect breeds joy & a sense of wonder
if we choose not to recognize this love
our hubris shall remain unforgiven
the Earth is sacred, do not seek above
Wisdom & nurturing comes not from above
our own fragile lives need the gifts of trees
not understanding this we remain unforgiven
for we are the children of Mother Earth
created with intent to employ our love
it’s a magical life – believe in the wonder
Do not be unforgiven – look with wonder
the trees hold life – theirs is a subtle love
the gifts are not above, but come from the Earth
