The Dead Rise

The Dead Rise

written by: Stark Hunter

the dead are here today
they sit in folding chairs
inside the musty chapel
smoking filter cigarettes
they tap their stone feet
to the music of memory
loud pastor offers peace
vibes and pale vignettes
dead mother cries tears
her favorite music plays
again on a ghostly organ
salvation chimes ring on
resurrection bells chime
incessant miracles again
disturb the gaping dead
usurping the last sunset
frankincense girls recite
five rigor mortis prayers
dead father prays aloud
again his hands tremble
his eyes blink coffin lids
the dead are here today
