times growing up,
memories a jumble of
different fragrances,
and picturesque
images
as they flash
into view
I’m pulled towards
those moments
with such vigor
that I sometimes
stumble
I catch,
and steady myself
letting the memories come,
washed in the past
of all that’s
moved beyond
deep down
nestled in those
images and scents
of another
place and time,
there’s a knowing
of a love
that was sublime.

and all the same
was the joy and love
that was able to be
