Hands Together

Hands Together!

written by: Mereena Eappen

I found my pockets void and hunger cried
through my eyes,
everyone is about to die in the warfield,
for we had no food anymore.
Poverty is a blasphemy-
a plague to be dodged,
work hard and wise, otherwise, you be poor.
Better avoid cantankerous separation in the society-
that precise broad line
which splits the poor and the rich
should be erased forever.
Join hands together for:
Poverty is a great bill and short pay,
it’s complex charge and poorer self-esteem,
it’s unseen scars and evident pain,
it’s dismal, disheartening, and brutalizing,
dilapidation, fear, and melancholic,
are cruel, empty and remote.
